Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir

Toronto, May 10th 2017 – At 10 a.m. this morning, with great pride, the entire school community of the Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud (CSDCCS) took part in simultaneous events celebrating the unveiling of the new name of the school board. Today, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir is born.  Over 16,500 students, 3,000 staff members, dignitaries and the media, as well as parents attended to launch and celebrate the new identity of the school board.
« Today, we have all made a great leap forward. Whether you are from Welland, Toronto, Penetanguishene or Peterborough, you are all part of the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir community. Faithful to our mission to welcome, it was essential that all the students, staff members, parents and partners could take part in this great news. I am very proud to note that all our schools were in attendance, every class, every student. At the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, every student, wherever he is, will always have our full attention, » stated André Blais, Director of Education.
The new name is the culmination of a process involving many stages of consultation and validation involving parents, students, staff members and the community. In fact, notions of modernity, the firm promise of an ambitious future for students and a high level of future achievement were recurring themes among the comments gathered. The name « MonAvenir » was thus chosen to encapsulate the attributes of our Catholic school board: faith, modernity, distinction, excellence, welcoming approach and inclusion.
« Over the last 20 years, the Catholic school board has acquired a great reputation. The excellent school results, the high graduation rate and the many successes of our students prove this without a doubt. Today, we celebrate our accomplishments as we think of tomorrow. Today, the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir asserts loud and clear its commitment to excellence and to ensuring that students have everything they need to succeed and flourish. Our school board supports the aspirations of the French-speaking Catholic community and today reaffirm our promise to pursue that mission in light of the hopes of our students, » declared Melinda Chartrand, Chair of the Board.
As its name indicates, the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir has the students as the very reason for its existence. It strives to have them reach their highest aspirations. An education at the highest level, the Catholic faith and a Francophone living environment form the basis from which every child can soar to become a citizen of the world, fulfilled and sure of his or her capacity to live according to a lofty ideal. Faithful to its reputation as a leader, the Csc MonAvenir is characterized by its avant-garde educational approach which is constantly being renewed and adapted to today’s world. It offers students quality learning spaces and opportunities, allowing them to develop the skills required for the 21st Century. At the Csc MonAvenir, the individuality of each person is welcome, efforts are applauded and success is celebrated.
Integral to the name, the logo consists of the silhouette of a young person taking off, carried away and guided by a star made up of various symbols. The large star represents the calling of each student to reach his full potential. The other symbols represent the students, the parents, the teaching staff and the community who, together form the large star guiding students in achieving their dreams.
The name change was adopted by a Board resolution on April 26 2017. This resolution will be presented to the Ministry of Education so that the new name may be officially modified in conformity with the Ontario Education Act.
